With more than 70 years of history to our name here at Browns Ladders, we’ve always been proud to supply a diverse range of extension ladders, stepladders and more from some of the world’s most respected manufacturers, including Chase, Werner, and Youngman. This year, we’ve been proud to add yet another prestigious manufacturer to our range: the global name of Hymer, known across Europe and beyond for the quality, reliability, and innovation it brings to each and every one of its products. Allow us to introduce you!
A quick introduction to Hymer
Hymer is a family business with more than 60 years of history to its name. It’s headquartered in Germany, where it first began, but over the last six decades it’s now earned a truly global reach. It started as a two-man enterprise in 1962, as Erwin Hymer and Fritz Lang (not the film director) began manufacturing aluminium ladders together, having taken over the rights from aircraft manufacturer Dornier. Their partnership proved fruitful, and within a decade the company was already looking at relocating to a more sizeable headquarters, and had introduced its trademark red stripe – an instantly recognisable hallmark which still distinguishes many of its products today.
By the 80s, it had expanded out to the caravanning industry (which continues to be a major market for its operations), and by 2004 it was a global business. Today Hymer’s offering spans across several sectors, and it’s built its international reputation on its approach to safety, quality, and longevity.
Examining Hymer’s top ladders
Hymer’s inventory encompasses extension ladders, stepladders, combination ladders and more, so whatever the job at hand, you can always be sure that there will be one to suit you. Here, we take a quick look at some of our favourites.
Hymer Black Line Double Extension Ladder
This is a lightweight and robust 2 section extension ladder, made with the same high grade aluminium upon which the company originally made its name. It’s built for comfort and safety, with its wide rungs and sturdy stabiliser bar, and we stock it in several sizes here at Browns Ladders. It’s rated to EN131 professional.
3 Tread Red Line Platform Step with Enclosed Tooltray
This Hymer 3 tread platform step showcases the company’s trademark red line that distinguishes its products so clearly today – for many, an instant signifier of quality and reliability. Safety has evidently been the top priority in its design, as it’s ingrained into almost every facet of its construction – from the deep 80mm treads, anti-slip platform, and extra large ladder shoes for exceptionally high grip.
There are lots of additional handy features too, such as its sturdy bucket hook with a 25kg load rating, and its anodised aluminium stiles to help keep your hands clean even on the messiest of jobs – something that countless buyers will no doubt appreciate!
3 Tread Red Line Platform Step with Enclosed Tooltray
Described as ‘the perfect combination of size and versatility’, the Hymer 70069 telescopic ladder more than lives up to that reputation. One of its key features is the wide stabiliser bar, helping the user to feel safe and secure while working at height. Designed for easy operation, it can be used equally easily as a leaning ladder or a stepladder, and it can even be used while working on stairs. Its telescopic design means that it can be easily stored, while still offering working heights of up to 4.87m.
Those are just a few of our favourites, of course – you might well have some of your own!
