REVIEW: Zarges ZAP 3 Adjustable Podium Step
30/07/2014
Today at Browns Ladders, we’re looking at our Zarges ZAP 3 Adjustable Podium Step, one of our newest work platform products.
A practical new purchase for tradesmen
The impressive Zarges ZAP 3 Adjustable Podium Step gives you four different options for your working height – at 0.4m, 0.8m, 1m and 1.2m. The product has been specifically developed for a working height of up to 3.2m. The range of safe working heights is one of the big selling factors of this product. The main platform can be pushed to any one of the four heights thanks to two lockable castors which enable you to change heights quickly and easily whilst remaining safe.
The practical design of the product doesn’t stop there; the Zarges ZAP 3 Adjustable Podium Step can also be quickly folded for transportation – saving on set up and take down times. The closed dimensions of 1.74m x 0.74m x 0.56m are also reasonable, fitting easily into the majority of trade transport.
Putting safety first
The new Zarges ZAP 3 Adjustable Podium Step has been developed with the latest EU Directives for Working at Heights in mind, making it one of the safety podium steps and work platforms around. Here are just some of the standout safety features:
- The large standing platform, measuring 680mm x 600mm has a guardrail. These two features combined ensure maximum work safety whilst providing a comfortable working space to stand in for long periods of time.
- Whatever height you work at, you can be sure you’ll be working securely with the height locking mechanism, which operates through the use of a foot lever.
- Built in large steps ensure you can move up and down the platform with ease and comfort. The horizontal steps sit at each lockable height (the lowest step at 0.4m and the fourth step / main platform at 1.2m).
- It’s PAS250 compliant. This is a relatively new safety standard introduced in August 2013 by UK based Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA) for the design of low-level platforms such as podium steps or pulpits. Prior to the introduction of this standard, low-level work platforms could be developed in the absence of any formal standards; meaning older products may not meet the minimum safety and performance criteria prescribed by PAS. The main requirements a product needs to meet PAS 250 include material specifications, design requirements for the working platform, side protection (guardrails), toe-boards, access, mobility, feet and adjustable legs, and the content of markings (labels) and user guides – all of which the ZAP 3 has.
