Quick tips for common Spring ladder jobs
30/04/2021
It’s that time of year again. Spring is upon us, bringing brighter evenings, warmer weather, and of course, your annual spring cleaning. With that added incentive of the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, there’s plenty of motivation to be getting on with your chores. Many of those hard to reach areas of your home or garden may have been ignored throughout the tumultuous year we’ve just endured. Therefore, it may be time to get out your stepladders around your home and your extension ladders for any outdoor errands. Here are some quick tips to help you get your house back in shape just in time for summer!
Fresh coat of paint
Whether it’s covering that pesky patch of the wall that you simply couldn’t get to last time or giving the whole wall a new lick of paint, ladders are going to be a must-have for this task. We recommend a decent stepladder when painting as it allows for a greater level of control whilst abiding by the three-point rule i.e. that you always have both feet and one hand in contact with the ladder at all times. Using ladders for painting allows for you to get a nice, even spread across your wall, by allowing you to get right to the edge of walls just beneath the ceiling. A fresh coat of paint is a perfect way to breathe some new life into your home and the right kind of stepladder, this task can be done safely and effectively.
Flex your green fingers
If it’s been a while since you flexed your green-fingers, spring cleaning is as good a time as any. Perhaps your hedges, trees and bushes have grown a bit too much and they’re overdue a trimming. With the potential for garden parties on the rise, you may want to try your hand at creating your very own miniature Chelsea flower show and a ladder will be your ultimate companion for this. If your garden shrubbery is on the tall side, an extension ladder may be ideal, but a stepladder could be just as effective. Doing this in spring is ideal, as it will prevent your greenery from getting out of hand during the summer growing period, meaning you can show off your handiwork at your barbecues and get-togethers!
Change your bulbs
Changing lightbulbs across your house can often be a tedious process, especially if you’re not blessed with height. Luckily, a ladder makes this chore far easier. With a growing variety of bulbs available, each can affect the ambience of a room, whether that’s energy-saving, smart bulbs, or LED. With a stepladder intact, you can try each of these and choose which one will best suit your room!
Clean that hidden dust
Dust gets everywhere and over time, it builds up. What makes matters worse is that dust enjoys basking in those impossible to reach areas such as wardrobes, door frames, and bookshelves. Depending on how high these areas are in your home will determine the size of the ladders you need, but low-level work platforms or even kick steps are extremely useful in helping you get to most of these nooks and crannies. This allows you to give your home a thorough clean, leaving it dust-free in the process.
Hang up that décor
Whether it’s a canvas, a family photo, or simply a piece of art you liked the look of, wall décor can add a lot of character to a room. The trouble is, sometimes that perfect spot for it is just a tad out of reach. With a decent stepladder at your disposal, you can make sure that you can place the furnishings in their ideal spots. Moreover, if you’ve already got plenty of wall decorations dotted around the house, the ladder will come in handy when it comes to giving them a clean, keeping your house fresh and vibrant.
