Product Review: Bratts SubStep Platform Step
11/01/2016
In our first product review of 2016 we’re taking a closer look at one of our best-selling steps. While the Bratts SubStep Platform Step may not be essential for all our readers, it is a vital piece of kit for those working in sub-stations, switchgear rooms, domestic premises, or in any restricted space. Designed with safety features and sturdy, durable materials, it’s no wonder this product has been such a hit here at Browns Ladders.
Designed for working around electricity
The product itself is manufactured with a heavy duty, glass fibre, non-conductive frame, and features aluminium treads and platform. While glass fibre is a heavier material, and more difficult to move around freely, it’s the only option for those working with and around electricity. What’s more, Bratts specialise in non-conductive access equipment – a necessity for those working in the electric supply industry – so you can be assured that the product has been built with all your safety needs in mind.
Product choice
The SubStep Platform Step is a specialist step and also comes with a range of offerings. It’s available as a two tread product, or three tread – depending on your height requirements. The two tread version gives workers a platform height of 400mm, and the three tread version offers a platform height of 640mm. The prices also reflect the product chosen, with the former priced at £295.70 including VAT, and the latter at £327.78 including VAT.
Meeting safety standards
Safety and ease-of-use has also been considered in the product’s design. The steps come with a carry handle, ensuring the product is easy to carry around, despite its weight. A lock and folding safety rail ensures optimum safety by ensuring the product is stable to work from, and that the user can keep three points of contact at all times – limiting the chance of falls from a height.
Bratts: A name you can trust
When buying any piece of access equipment it’s also a good idea to consider brand reputation – and with Bratts you can be assured of a good quality product. The company have been making ladders for well over 100 years – since 1895 – and supply every major electricity company with non-conductive access equipment. As expected, the company also works closely with the HSE and builds products to appropriately reflect today’s safety standards.
If you’re thinking of buying the Bratts SubStep Platform Step, or any of the other specialist steps on our website, do make sure you know how to work safely. You might want to improve your knowledge of health and safety for 2016 with a booking on to one of our safety training courses. We’d particularly recommend our Ladders and Steps Training Course.
As with all our products, the Bratts steps come with a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty and free standard delivery. There’s also the option to upgrade to overnight delivery if you need the product more urgently.
